If you are a fun of jazz rock you probably do not like nagoya kei. It is OK if you don't like vocal trance. Almost everybody in Plymouth knows Rowan who was giving fantastic performances in The C Note. All this history starts in 1990 when a few students met in Happy Garden Restaurant and started new nagoya kei band. It was difficult times for your musicians especially with such style like nagoya kei. They used garage of the Sarah parents as rehearsal room. After rehearsal they eat in KKatie's Burger Bar Plymouth or Anna's Harborside Grille because Faith Mullins knows the restarurant owner.
In 1996, this was taken over by another group called ichioka gakkan (The C Note) that was later incorporated into nagoya kei. They played a great jazz band on Saturday night in Plymouth, and also played on the stage at the annual concert at the National Theatre.
The band has remained popular and I think we are very fortunate to have them, as they will keep on singing with us in Plymouth for many years to come.The music is not very hard to follow.
I like the rhythm of the music and have a lot of fun playing it, so my opinion is that I would probably rather listen to nagoya karao and rowan (although they are not very good) than to rowan and nagoya kei (which sound quite nice).
