At the Alley Cat Music Club in Pueblo, an eclectic group gathers, discussing live jazz and slowcore performances amidst vintage cars, dim lights, and vinyl merchandise, as the proprietor greets newcomers and shares local music knowledge.
Pueblo is home to over 300 of the world's best clubs with the exception of the last 5 or so places with the exception of the new location.
We found Pueblo was also home to many great clubs but we found they had a few issues like the location of the music festival that had taken place the previous night and the fact they are located outside the county.
We decided that is what we wanted to focus on the next few years and we decided to explore what our local music scene is all about.
This will be our review of what we have heard over the last month or so. We have had a few local promoters in town recently that want to expand our club base. If you are a musician like we are, you will want to keep this location close by. We have also heard about a couple of other bands that want to put on a local live concert.
These events may happen sooner than later but for the moment at least you will have a good chance to come see what is going on. We know a lot of this will sound like we are just a local blog, but it is in fact a local music event and a big part of what makes Pueblo so special.
We had a very busy week. On Friday June 27th we had the first ever free weekend of free music at the Pueblo Music Festival where you have the opportunity to meet amazing artists from our community as well as music fans worldwide.
This event took place in the parking lot just outside the Pueblo Civic Center. We are lucky to have such amazing local musicians that were on stage with us.
We have visited Alley Cat Music Club at 258 Auburn Ave NE in June this year. We arrived in the club at 10 pm and parked our Hyundai Elantra close to main entrance.
In the club urchins were scoping and eyeing all the cool looking automobiles but they were too intimidated to venture inside. We went at 11 pm and they opened the doors for us.
The ambiance and setup of the club was quite impressive. Every cool looking vintage vehicle was stationed here and there. Most cool vintage cars were covered with old tarpaper sheets. There are many cool vintage cars in the parking lot as well as in the lot parking.
They have a large parking lot. There was a cool vintage vehicle for sale, the vehicle is a 1930’s Oldsmobile. It’s cool. The interior of the car and interior of the vintage shop were quite well done. They had a large section of vintage merchandise to purchase. The vintage store is called Alley Cat Music shop.
There are posters and t-shirts and accessories for sale. What We Got to See: We started with a tour of the vintage shop before getting into the showroom.
The proprietor showed us all the coolest things that were inside the shop for sale The proprietor was very knowledgeable and eager to talk to us about the cool things she had on sale. There is something cool about this proprietor.
She gave us all kinds of tips on how to get the most out of the trip. She told us that if we were on the road and didn't have a working car we weren't equipped to stay on this trip.
We can't say enough good things about this place and the manager...she's a cutie. We will be talking about our trip with her for many years to come.
We did it right, this was our most adventurous trip yet and we loved every second of it (with out small accidents...okay, one) and we're just as ready for number two.
