As a proud Midland native, I'm always on the lookout for great places to catch some live music around town. Recently, I found myself heading over to Club Tequila located on East 8th Street, and I have to say, my experience left something to be desired.
Now, getting there was a bit of an adventure in itself. As I turned onto East 8th Street, my GPS suddenly lost signal, sending me into a state of panic. I tried frantically to navigate using the dim streetlights and sparse storefronts as landmarks, but it wasn't until a kind stranger pointed me in the right direction that I finally arrived.
But unfortunately, my troubles didn't end there. The club itself was lively enough, with the thumping beat of the music reverberating through the walls, but as I made my way to the restrooms, I was met with a sight that almost made me turn back around. The bathrooms were absolutely filthy - the toilets were overflowing, the sinks were clogged, and the stalls themselves seemed to be crawling with who-knows-what.
It's a shame, really, because I could tell there was a lot of potential here. The atmosphere was great, the drinks were reasonably priced, and the staff seemed friendly enough. But the condition of those restrooms left me with a sour taste in my mouth - both literally and figuratively speaking.
In all honesty, I don't think I'll be returning to Club Tequila anytime soon. And while I hate to see any establishment struggle, especially during these trying times, I simply can't recommend a place where cleanliness is clearly an afterthought.
