Now he still operates the old bar. There's also the old bar which still attracts a lot of people that enjoy hanging out and getting drunk. The old bar is in great shape.
The bar has been kept running for years, but it's been in such poor shape that there's actually been two separate bars since Dominic took over. And the bar is still pretty dirty.
When the original Bogie's is closed down in 2000 Dominic had been looking for a replacement venue for the old bar where he could play more shows and not have to worry about his equipment and staff being ripped up. So he set up his own bar and he started renting space.
Now Dominic Phillips is known as the most influential DJ in Southern California. It's not the kind of place you see on a Saturday evening in a bar.
Dominic Phillips plays his shows at 8 PM on Saturday nights on the main stage. On Sundays he runs the main stage, and on Thursdays he runs the side stage. Dominic Phillips started playing and hosting live music in his bar when he first opened his venue in the old Bogie's building in 2007.
At first, Dominic wanted to open a small nightclub called The Jungle. That's when he decided it'd be better to play live music on mainstage and run the Jungle. His plans changed when he found out that Bogie's wasn't the place they wanted to put it. So Dominic moved the bar to the new building in 2007.
The old bar was still in such bad shape and was starting to smell like sewage, but Dominic started a big renovation and got the bar cleaned up to a much greater degree than originally anticipated.
Dominic started working with the bar manager to get it running and working much better than he ever did before.
This is known place in Thousand Oaks at Avenida Universidad 2079 . I was there in April this year. We arrived in the club at 10 pm and parked our Ram 1500 close to main entrance.
In the club ive seen a lot of cars with the licence plate RAYWILL. After my experience with that vehicle, I wonder how many people get a car license plate such as RAYWILL! I went outside just once to check if someone was tailing us and came back inside as soon as I saw no cars follow us.
For those who travel during the weekends, go to the west-end, if you are into good food, and you cannot miss the place. Ive eaten there and everything was awesome. For people looking for an escape from their life in the city for a day, go here.
My group of friends and I went for the weekly on July 19, 2013 I am going there in the next few days again, and I'm pretty sure that this time I'm going with an empty stomach! LOL Well, i just wanted to let you guys know that i have just recently been visiting this place and i had a great time. Ive only been to Thousand Oaks once, but the food is amazing.
They have the best caribbean food i have ever had and i was just talking to a waitress about it and she assured me that this place has the best jerk chicken there (they have an open air "jerk" stand right in front of the building) which i know all about their other food.
I am very happy with the fact that you guys are now putting this place on your map. I'll keep coming back, because who wouldn't wanna eat at this place, right? Thank you so much for your detailed review regarding "Chamalein's".
I have been trying to find this place for such a long time. I recently stopped by, it's great! It would be great if you could list this restaurant, so others can find it. Great review.
Your are welcome, and thank you so much for your kind words - i'm really glad i found this place. If you can, come up to my hometown and visit us, i'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised! Well, i'd be happy to post your review, maybe a month from now, if you don't mind? i'll let you choose the date. Please visit my site and let me know what you think, it's my favorite place to be.
